Golden Globes Style Sessions 2012

There are few things that I love in the fashion world more than a gorgeous gown. And since it's awards show season, that's a perfect excuse for me to ooh and ahh over the best of the best of formalwear.

Versace, Gucci, Prada - oh my do I love this time of year!

THE QUEEN

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace

Angelina has made painting the town red a sophisticated féte. The bright red wandered from her infamous lips to the gown's lapel and down to her perfectly matching Louboutin handbag. The bold color lends a glamourous contrast to her gorgeous green eyes and the porcelain of her skin. The elegance of the drapery paired with her signature high slit is Angel-ina perfection.

THE DARLING

Charlize Theron in Dior

I have watched Charlize strut her stuff in the J'dore Dior commercial video as many times as the next person and am usually a fan of her sophisticated style, but I don't love her choice of gown here. I was hoping for something more like that gorgeous gold beaded gown from the ad. The giant pink bow looks like some kind of strange growth in place of where the rest of her long skirt should be. The super low neckline and back AND a high slit- it's too much.  I do love her shoes by Givenchy and of course her face is flawless. But overall, disappointed.

THE IN CROWD

Claire Danes, Salma Hayek and Evan Rachel Wood

Three of my personal favorites! These ladies know what they're doing.

THE SIREN

Salma Hayek in Gucci

Salma is super sexy with her sultry waves in this custom made Gucci gown. The angular red and gold beading perfectly support her voluptuous assets. The best part of it all is that the sketch is written out to her by creative director Frida Gianinni herself.
Does it get any cooler?

THE PEACOCK

Evan Rachel Wood also chose a Gucci gown for the awards show. The way that this dress moves is hypnotizing. The beadwork on the chest and the neckline are a little strange with Evan's tiny bust, but the color and the craftsmanship of the feathers on the train are amazing. I only wish that she still had her fiery red hair.

THE MOD SQUAD

 Zooey Deschanel in vintage Prada

Zooey Deschanel has never been afraid to take risks on the red carpet. She's lighthearted and easygoing with her hair down in a flirty sixties style and quirky tuxedo fingernails. This look is young, unique and right on trend with chartreuse beading in the front and a low back. She has her own brand of style and I adore it and all things vintage.

Claire Danes in J Mendel

This piece by J Mendel complements Claire's body-type beautifully. The beadwork is stunning and when she turns around the back is unexpected and modern. The red lips take the look to the a whole new level. She's a winner!
